Surface water
Surface water collects in or flows through reservoirs, rivers, lakes, streams and oceans. It remains in place until used by plants for transpiration or abstracted for agriculture, industry and living. Depletion of groundwater and surface water sources for public consumption (residential, commercial or industrial) is sometimes caused by over-pumping.
